Kolkata Heroes stay alive

In a must-win to keep their hopes for the semifinals alive Kolkata Heroes defeated Kanchenjunga Warriors by 8 wickets (VJD method) in their last group league match of Byju's Bengal T20 Challenge today at Eden Gardens.
Kolkata have climbed up to the fourth spot with 18 points from 10 games while Durgapur Dazzlers, Barrackpore Bashers and Kanchenjunga have already cemented their semifinal spots.
Kharagpur Blasters being the fifth in the table currently with 16 points will be playing to their last match against Krishnanagar Challengers and will aim to take the semifinal spot replacing Kolkata with a victory.
Put to bat first in a rain hit 11 overs per side game Kanchenjunga amassed 80/7 riding on Sayan Sekhar Mondal's gritty 44 containing 3 sixes and 2 boundaries while the second innings was halted due to rain again for 30 minutes and later the target was revised to 41 runs to chase in 5 overs by VJD method.
Chasing a decent target Kolkata all-rounder Karan Lal powered his team to a big victory with 3 balls left to play smashing 15-ball 29.
Earlier Kolkata bowlers Geet Puri and Karan bagged 2 wickets apiece to rattle their opponents. Apart from Sudip Gharami (11) and Sayan no other Kanchenjunga batter could reach the double digit mark.
