Kharagpur Blasters rode on skipper Kazi Junaid Saifi's unbeaten half-century to thrash Krishnanagar Challengers by 9 wickets in Byju's Bengal T20 Challenge today at Eden Gardens.
Electing to bat first Krishnanagar could manage only 112 losing 8 wickets while Kazi smahsed unbeaten 57 along with Dip Chatterjee's 43 (47) not out to finish the match with 20 balls left to play.
Kazi smashed 3 sixes and 5 boundaries during his 43-ball innings as opponent bolwers couldn't trouble Kharagpur batters much.
Krishnanagar got off to a shaky start after being reduced to 7/2 losing opener Diaganta Neogi (2) and Ayush Kr Singh (2).
Koushik Ghosh tried to steady the ship with a patient 39 off 37 along with Sk Asif Hussain (27) till Pradipta Pramanik removed the latter one to break the partnership.
Dip Chatterjee caught Koushik off Kazi Junaid Saifi to make the condition more difficult for Krishnanagar and Kharagpur bowlers did well to not let any other opponent batter settle.
Krishnanagar batters Arnab Nandi (2), Agniv Pan (7), Ayan Gupta (8) and Kanishk Seth (11) after failing to star with the bat.
Pradipta and experienced spinner Rajkumar Pal bagged 2 wickets apiece and kept things tight to restrict Krishnanagar to 112/8 in their quota of 20 overs.
