Parna shines again as Bengal virtually enter knockouts

Parna Paul continued her good form with the bat as Bengal finished second in their group with a 90-run vicroty over Haryana in Womens Senior One Day Trophy Elite Group B match and virtually ensured their ticket to the knockouts today in Rajkot.
Bengal are now placed at second with 16 points from 5 matches with a better net runrate than other second placed teams, which makes them eligible for the knockouts spot but Rumeli Dhar led side will have to wait till the finals matches of Group D & E are played tomorrow.
"Many congratulations to Women’s team for playing such quality cricket in the tournament. We need to remember that Jhulan, Richa and Deepti were playing for the country and hence could not participate for the Bengal team at the league stage. Sukanya was not released by Railways within the deadline, Dhara suffered from covid and Paramita suffered from a hamstring injury. Hence, we were without our best players. Now if we qualify, we would get the services Richa and Deepti too and Paramita may be available subject to her recovery, all of which would make our team stronger," said CAB President Avishek Dalmiya on the Bengal Women's team's performance in the Senior One-Day Trophy 2020-21.
Electing to bat first Bengal amassed 259/8 in their quota of overs and later successfully restricted their opponents to 169/9 as Bhawna Olhan's unbeaten ton went in vain for Haryana.
Bengal got off to a good start thats to their opener Mita Paul who scored 43 while wicket-keeper Aparna Mondal made 44 tp steady the ship and later Parna showed off her fluent batting to score 63 off 74 runs. This batswomen has hit a purple patch and has given the much needed solidity to the Bengal middle order.
Shweta Sharma was the highest wicket taker for Haryana with 3 for 36.
Bengal bowlers while defending did well to take wickets in regular intervals, while Bhawna played a good knock other Haryana batters couldn't do anything to arrest the slide and eventually lost the match by 90 runs.

Hooghly river victorious

Hoighly River defeated Manbhum Warriors by 98 runs riding on Abhijit Mal's all-round performance while Nadia Super Dazzler beat Birbhum Super Kings thanks their bolwers Sanjay Sadhukhan and Tanmay Pramanik in CAB inter district T20 tournament today.
Batting first Hooghly amassed 217/2 in their quota of overs as Abhijit scored 87 and bagged 3 wickets later while S Yadav remained unbeaten on 98.
Sanjay and Tanmay picked up 4 wickets apiece as Nadia beat Birbhum by 7 wickets and Bardhaman Blues, Murshidabad Nabab were also victorious.
