Chandigarh win against Bengal

Chandigarh continued their winning run as they defeated Bengal by 5 wickets in Vijay Hazare trophy encounter at Eden Gardens today.
Put to bat first Bengal amassed a fighting 253/9 in their quota of overs while Chandigarh chased the taget down with 7 balls left to play.
Bengal skipper Anustup Majumder said: "Our target was to score 300 if we bat first but due to losing wickets quickly that didn't happen. Though it was a fighting score. We lost wickets in clusters and that's why couldn't build big partnerships. Akash and Mukesh batted well and put up a good partnership."
"The wicket became easier for the batters in the second innings and that made our bowlers' job hard. Losing the toss became a factor," he added.
Earlier Shahbaz Ahamed scored 59 off 66 deliveries along while Bengal lower order put up good batting display as Akash Deep stayed unbeaten on 25 while Mukesh Kumar made 16.
Gourab Gambhir, Gurinder Singh and Bipul Sharma bagged 2 wickets apiece for Chandigarh.
While chasing Chandigarh got off to a steady start as their opening pair stiched a 126-run partnership. Manan Vohra made 45 while Arslan Kahn hit a fluent 88.
After the opening duo departed Shivam Bhambri stayed unbeaten till the end to smash 71 and ensure victory.
In other matches Saurashtra and Jammu & Kashmir registered victories in their respective matches.
Saurashtra wicket-keeper Snell Patel's 79 along with skipper Jaidev Unadkat's late 24-ball 39 ensured a nail-biting 1-wicket victory over Haryana with 5 balls left to play chasing a target of 265 runs.
For Services Ravi Chauhan smashed 118 to post a total of 274/7 while J&K rode on three half-centuries by Shubham Khajuria (84), Abdul Samad (63) and Subham Pundir (56*)to win the match in 48.3 overs.
