17th February 2021
The Cricket Association of Bengal along with YMCA today unveiled its first practice facility at the latter's maidan premises that will be dedicated to Women's and Boys age group cricket.
"This will be the first practice facility of CAB in the Maidan dedicated to Women's cricket and Bengal U-16 and U-19 boys.
This will give the women's team a permanent traning place at the Maidan and help them access the indoor facility, with a state of the art Gymnasium and swimming pool, at Eden Gardens simultaneously," said CAB President Avishek Dalmiya.
Earlier, the facility was inaugurated by The Right Revd. Dr Prabal Dutta and Jhulan Goswami in presence of Mr Avishek Dalmiya today morning.
Vice-president Naresh Ojha, Secretary Snehashis Ganguly, Joint Secretary Debabrata Das, Treasurer Debasish Ganguly, Ground Committee Chairman Madan Ghosh, former India skipper Jhulan Goswami and current India selector Mithu Mukherjee were present on the occasion.
YMCA was represented by Tarak Roy, Kanchan Banerjee and The Right Revd. Dr Prabal Dutta and other members of the club.
"This is a great initiative and will give us a place to practice on a permanent basis in the Maidan itself. The proximity of Eden Gardens makes it easier to do indoors also," said Jhulan Goswami.
The centre will have five pitches where the players can do nets all round the year.
