Tapan Memorial finish on top

7th December 2020
Riding on Prayas Ray Barman's fluent 46-ball 68 Tapan Memorial beat Calcutta Customs by 6 wickets to go top of the table as league matches of Bengal T20 Challenge were concluded today at Eden Gardens.
"Tapan Memorial ends the group league stage at the top of the table. We dedicate this performance to Tipu Da (Subroto Sarkar) whom we lost during the lockdown. His motivation was just cricket and ground and we take this opportunity to acknowledge his dedication," said Harshvardhan Kalyani, Tapan Memorial's representative to CAB .
Prayas was promoted up the batting order chasing a low target of 128 runs and the Tapan all-rounder grabbed the chance with both hands to smash 3 sixes and 6 boundaries en route to his maiden half-century of the tournament.
Prayas said: "Very happy to finish top of the table, we are playing good cricket as a team. Team gave me the opportunity to go up the order, very happy to play a good knock for the team."
Shakir Habib Gandhi also contributed with unbeaten 42 runs along with Prayas while Bapi Manna bagged 2 wickets for Customs.
Earlier Customs elected to bat first after winning the toss and another half-century from Suvankar Bal ensured that they reach 127/6 in their quota of 20 overs.
