28th November 2020
Pradipta Pramanik spun Kalighat to their second win in three matches with a seven wicket victory over Calcutta Customs in the Bengal T20 Challenge at Eden Gardens here today.
After being put to bat by Kalighat, Calcutta Customs reached a decent 124 for 7 thanks to some decent starts from Suvankar Bal (17), Agniv Pan (28) and unbeaten 24 from Karan Lal towards the end. Pradipta Pramanik took four for 24 to prove to be the nemesis of the batting side.
Four-wicket taker Pradipta said: "Wicket was a bit helpful at first. We wanted to take as many wickets as possible during the initial overs and we were bowling accordingly. I tried to bowl aggressively as we knew if we can pick up wickets at first the target will automatically come down."
Chasing the total Kalighat reached made 125 for the loss of three wickets with 10 balls to spare.
Customs began the defence taking three early wickets reducing Kalighat to 56 for three. That brought together Sudip Chatterjee and Subhan Chatterjee and the duo played intelligent cricket trading in singles and doubles and picking the bad balls for boundaries.
Sudip Chatterjee remained unbeaten on 47 off 30 with five hits to the fence. Giving him company was Subham who remained not out on 36 off 34 balls with two fours. The duo made 69 runs for the fourth wicket to coast to victory.
An elated Kalighat skipper Subham Chatterjee talked about their second win in a row: "We all are very happy with two back-to-back wins, team's moral is high. The team bonding is improving with every game."
