Madam / Sir,
The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) had recently organized a Video Conference comprising of Medical Committee Members who are doctors of repute and are associated with top Hospitals in the city.
After detailed discussions, it was recommended that various training programmes undertaken by the Association should not be resumed till thorough guidelines are framed by CAB and awareness programmes are organised.
Moreover, Directives, Norms and Advisories issued by the Government(s) also need to be adhered to prior to such resumption.
Furthermore, various precautionary measures like sanitization of kits, maintaining social distancing, use of disinfectant in toilets amongst other suggested steps must be implemented before resumption of any training activities.
In this context, it is pertinent to state that even The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has said that it would study guidelines at the state level and will work in sync with State Cricket Associations to chalk out a programme for skill-based training at a local level.
In view of above, the Association thought that it would be prudent to refrain from engaging in any cricket activities and / or training programmes at present till thorough guidelines are framed by it.
Based on above, the Tournament Committee of the Association decided to call off all 1st Division, 2nd Division and various Age Group Tournaments of 2019-2020 season conducted by CAB considering health and safety of the players and match officials.
While the Tournament Committee has recommended abandoning all other tournaments of the Association for the season 2019-2020, meetings of District Committee, School Committee and College Committee are being convened later this week to discuss and take final decisions with regard to the District, School, University and College Tournaments.
It is further informed that we would soon be framing the guidelines prior to organizing any coaching / training sessions. Once such guidelines are framed, we would share it with you to enable you to undertake similar measures prior to commencement of training programmes by you for the Benefit and Safety of the young budding talents as well as others associated with cricket.
We expect to receive Support and Cooperation from all concerned in this matter in the larger interest of the cricketers belonging to the State and also to avoid possibilities of any spread of Covid-19.
Thanking you
Yours faithfully,
Avishek Dalmiya
