Ambar Roy birthday celebrated

5th June 2020
The Cricket Association of Bengal today celebrated the 75th birthday of one of its most prodigious batting talents Ambar Roy.
On the occasion CAB President Avishek Dalmiya, while garlanding his picture, said: "Late Shri Ambar Roy's flair with the bat at the crease epitomised the flavour of Kolkata more than anyone else’s. Some called him the most talented strokeplayer Bengal has ever produced. The ball, when caressed by him, bisected fielders with the precision of a marksman. He left us too early."

Also present on the occasion were CAB Secretary Snehashis Ganguly, Vice-president Naresh Ojha, Treasurer Debashis Ganguly and Joint Secretary Debabrata Das who paid their respects on the stylish left hander on his birthday.
He played 4 Tests scoring 91 runs and had a first class record of 7163 runs at an average of more than 43. He also became a national selector, but died at the age of 52.
