ICA extends financial assistance to former 5
former Bengal players

Indian Cricketers Association (ICA) to help former players amid the Coronavirus pandemic and it includes 5 former Bengal cricketers.
In the ICA list of beneficiaries from Bengal has Sumeet Some, Krishna Dey in Category A, while Category B has Tanuja Samanta and Sandhya Karmakar. Reena Das is part of Category C.
ICA President Ashok Malhotra said: We want to help the former players amid this pandemic. Both men and women cricketers are facing financial crisis at this time, some of them have money. We are trying to help not only to the players but also the windows of retired first class cricketers."
"Former players Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sunil Gavaskar, Mohammad Azharuddin and many more players have contributed to the welfare fund. It will not stop here, we will try to help more players also," he added.
CAB President Avishek Dalmiya welcoming such move said: "It is very encouraging to see ICA beside the former players who had given their blood and sweat for cricket. I must congratulate Sri Ashok Malhotra for leading from the front and ensuring those who need attention were looked after”. Incidentally, Avishek Dalmiya in his individual capacity had earlier donated Rs.50,000/- for the cause.
In its effort to help the former
cricketers ICA has raised Rs 57 lakh which is to be distributed amongst 36 cricketers from all over the country.
Based on the income and their age, a total of 20 cricketers will receive a maximum of Rs 100,000 in Category A, while others will get a sum of Rs 80,000 and Rs 60,000 in B & C respectively.
"I am extremely thankful to ICA for this effort. It will help the former players a lot at this difficult time. The players are very happy to hear this," said Gargi Banerjee, Apex Council Member of CAB.
