Belligerent Bengal go up against
Odisha in Ranji quarterfinals
19th February 2020
A confident Bengal side will lock horns with Odhisha in Ranji Trophy quarterfinal match in Cuttack tomorrow.
The visitors reached the knockouts stage after two years while Odisha previously played the quarterfinals in 2016-17.
Bengal team under the watchful eyes of veteran cricketer Arun Lal have won last two must-win thrillers after rain curtailed their three games while the hosts also have been in good form.
While there's uncertainty over the availability of lethal pacer Akash Deep as he remains doubtful with a niggle, the return of Ishan Porel have boosted Bengal's pace attack.
Bengal coach Arun Lal said: "I don't think Akash Deep is going to be available tomorrow. If we win this game then he should be available for the next match. Ishan is looking very good, bowled very well in the nets. He's looking strong and fit."
All-rounder duo Shahbaz Ahamad and Arnab Nandi has added extra strength in batting lineup as both of them have been among runs amd played crucial knocks while veteran batter Manoj Tiwary did justice to his whenever the team was in trouble.
In the batting department the visitors will depend on skipper Abhimanyu Easwaran and Avishek Raman for a brisk start, followed by Koushik Ghosh and experienced Sudip Chatterjee, Sreevats Goswami and Anustup Majumder down the pipeline to ensure the dominance.
About the wicket and opponents Arun said: "They have good fast bowling and they are relying on that. So there is grass on the wicket and it's going to be a hard wicket. I think after the first session it will become a good wicket. We're going in with two spinners and three pacers."
On the other hand Odisha will depend on Suryakant Pradhan and Debabrata Pradhan in the bowling department and expect for a good shwo from their batters Shantanu Mishra, Debasish Samantray, Anurag Sarangi, Govinda Poddar and captain Subhanshu Senapati.
