Manoj rates this innings higher than tripple tonne

14th February 2020
Fatherhood and focus has changed ace Bengal batsman Manoj Triwary.
After having scored virtually two match wining innings against Punjab, of 73 not out and 65 in first and second esays respectively, Manoj said: "Ever since my son has arrived in our lives I have changed completely. I don't think of anything other than the matches and spending time with my family. This has brought about a great deal of clarity in my thought. I am in a much better space mentally."
Asked if playing without baggage helped, he said: "There is nothing like that. I have always played with complete dedication. Only thing is I am much more sorted in my mind. I feel fit, focussed and ready for few more seasons."
Coach Arun Lal today said that Manoj was as good as any batsman you will get on a difficult turning track. In reply Manoj said: "When a complement like this comes from a legend like him it becomes extra special. The responsibility increases manifolds. Also the presence of Utpal Chatterjee, Ranadeb Bose in the dressing room adds to the wealth of experience."
On how would he rate this innings, he said: "Both the knocks were special. I am a four down batsman, but the team needed me to come five down and so I did. I will rate this innings higher than my tripple ton. Of course that will always be special as it's my only tripple hundred, but this was something different. We needed to win this match. Someone needed to anchor the innings. We needed to put a psychological pressure of runs on the board. It was a difficult track. So all of that put together, it's a memorable innings."
He also said that the team was charged coming back from behind to win two must win games. "We are in a very positive frame of mind. We won two very difficult games and now we will have to give everything," he signed off.
