Bad light plays spoilsport on day two;
Bengal post 289
25th December 2019
Bengal scored 289 losing all wickets as the second day of their Ranji Trophy encounter saw only 21 overs being bowled due to bad light today at Eden Gardens.
Resuming the day on 241/4 Bengal lost their rest 6 wickets for a paltry 47 runs while the game was interrupted several times for bad light and only 101 minutes of cricket could take place.
Bengal coach Arun Lal said after the match: "It was a little disappointing day for us. We were hoping for 350-run total but we lost Raman early and the game got interrupted several times. We couldn't bowl when it was our turn also."
"It's not easy batting out there. We are very much in the game and if we can take early wickets then we'll put a lot of pressure on them," he added.
Abhishek Raman went back on 112 after being removed by K Sasikanth off the second ball of the day while Sreevats Goswami added crucial 25 runs.
The game stopped from 9:7-9:27 AM, 9:48-11:48 AM, 12:31-1:20 PM and it stopped for a fourth time after Bengal's innings came to an end at 1:35 PM and did not resume after that.
