Bengal-Gujarat Ranji tie lose more overs
4th January 2020
Wet outfield and bad light once again curtailed Bengal's Ranji Trophy encounter against Gujarat today at Eden Gardens as only 20 overs could be played in the second day after yesterday's play was called off without a ball being bowled.
After more than 2 hours the play started at 11:55 AM as Bengal elected to field after winning the toss and restricted the visitors to 46/1.
Bengal's squad saw two changes with Ritwik Roy Chowdhury making his debut replacing Sudip Chatterjee and Ayan Bhattacharyya for B Amit.
Ishan Porel showed off his fiery bowling skills to ask all the uncomfortable questions to the visitors' batters and bagged the only wicket of the match by removing Kathan Patel on 12.
Other Bengal pacers Mukesh Kumar and Akash Deep faired decent as Priyank Panchal remained unbeaten on 25 along with Samit Gohil (7).
