Siliguri girl Richa in India T20 WC team

Hard-hitting Bengal batter Richa Ghosh has been named in the 15-member India squad for the upcoming Women's T20 World Cup today.
Ghosh, was an integral part of Bengal U-19 batting unit last season, has performed well in India 'B' side in the domestic Challengers Trophy.
The 16-year-old said to CAB Media: "I am very happy to represent my country in the T20 World Cup. My parents, all the coaches and CAB have supported me a lot."
"Batting is my main strength. I will try to contribute as much as I can with batting and fielding," she added.
Batting in the middle-order, Ghosh slammed a 25-ball 36 in a chase of 149 against India C in the above said tournament.
Cricket Association of Bengal Secretary Avishek Dalmiya said: "It’s fabulous news. She is really talented and have been performing very well in Domestic Cricket. Richa, a true allrounder in every sense, is an asset for any team as she can bat, bowl and keep wickets depending on the requirement of team. We are confident that she would excel in the Global event. Our best wishes are with her."
"She is a hard hitter and is one of the few women cricketers who can clear the boundaries of full size cricket grounds with ease," he added.
Indian cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar is the Siliguri girl's idol while she also said that Bengal and India legend Jhuan Goswami helped her a lot prepare better.
An elated Bengal Women's Senior Team coach Shib Shankar Paul who has trained Richa said: "I am very happy that Richa got this chance to represent India after Jhulan Goswami from Bengal Women's cricketers. She is a very good batsman, fabulous fielder, and wicket keeper at the same time."
"She has the ability to turn any match around and I hope Richa helps India win the World Cup. The only thing I have told her is to concentrate on her game, that's it," he added.
The Bengal Women's Senior Team coach also said that Richa can bowl as well and is a good fast bolwer.
"I have seen her from very early age. She's very talented cricketer and CAB has supported in all cause to train her well. I wish her luck and hope she can reach new heights in future," said Arup Ratan Ghosh, General Secretary, Siliguri Mahakuma Krida Parishad.
