Carlsen, Anand ring bell
Arindam Basu
23rd November 2019
Norwegian World Champion Magnus Carlsen and five time World Champ and India's very own Vishwanathan Anand today rang the Eden Bell to signal the beginning of second day's play at the Eden Gardens.
CAB Secretary Avishek Dalmiya accompanied the duo as they continued the tradition of ringing the Bell.
The duo is in the City for the Grand Chess Tour (GCT) rapid and blitz meet. The soft spoken World No 1 is back in India six years after beating Anand for his maiden world championship and is top draw for the meet.
Carlsen, who would have loved to play Bobby Fischer or Mikhail Tal if he could go back in time, was excited to be present at a cricket ground.
Anand was equally happy to be part of this historic occasion.
