Purab continues good form, hits triple ton
28th January 2018
After a double hundred few weeks back against Kolkata Union Sporting, Purab Joshi today hit a triple ton to put Barisha in the driver seat against Police Sports Club in a CAB first division league tournament match here in Maidan.
Unbeaten at 300 off 249 balls Barisha declared at 512 for 4 in the first innings after bundling opposition at 151 in 30.3 overs. Chasing 361, a hapless Police side ended the day at 144 for 7 with one day of play still remaining.
“It was a green top wicket which helped our seamers to break through the opposition defence. Our plan was to bat one time. Initially it was difficult for me to set but after setting down things started easing out gradually. The ball was coming to the bat quite well. I was putting the bad balls away. It feels good to make a positive start to the seasons, my aim will be to keep going, bettering my form and remain consistent,” Purab said to CAB media.
Praising Mukesh and Veer Pratap Singh he said, “They took full advantage of the green top wicket bowling in the right areas and with discipline. It seems we will get full points from the match wrapping them up as early as possible tomorrow.”
Among those scoring centuries in other matches were Chandan Kr. Singh, Subhrajit Das, Prasant Sinha Roy, Preet Kamal Singh, Bishop Kaushik, Sambit Roy and Sougata Dutta.
Among the bowlers, while Preetam Biswas bagged six, Rohit Kumar, Raj Kumar Pal, Mithun Mukherjee, Amit Kr. Pandey and Bapi Manna bagged five wickets each.
