UP humble Bengal

Uttar Pradesh hit a massive 235 and then bowled out Bengal for 160 to record a facile 75 run win in Group B encounter in the Super League stage of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
Uttar Pradesh notched up two milestones on way to their mammoth 235 for 3 against Bengal. Suresh Raina got his highest T20 score, while UPCA notched up the highest ever team total in the meet.
However, Bengal began brightly with Ashoke Dinda and Writtick Chatterjee reducing UPCA to 55 for 2. After that it was a Suresh Raina show. He plundered runs all round the wicket in a display of power batting as he raced to 52 for 22 balls. Meanwhile, Akshdeep Nath also played the role of second fiddle to a perfection.
Raina motored to his century off 49 balls as Uttar Pradesh raced to 200 in 17.4. As Raina was going hammer and tongs, Akshdeep completed his 50 off 24 balls. Both the players made merry as Bengal bowlers toiled hard to curb the flow of runs. For Bengal Mukesh Kumar took the biggest hit giving away 63 runs followed by Sayan Ghosh who gave 43 runs.
Raina finished the day on 126 aided by 13 fours and seven sixes, while Nath score a brilliant 80 with 7 boundaries and four over the top.
After his innings, Raina said: “I am happy to get the run. It was not easy to score with Dinda and Ghosh bowling really well.”
Bengal began the chase in right earnest with Shreevats Goswami making a fine 57 off 28 balls aided with seven boundaries and 3 sixes. Vivek Singh, Manoj Tiwary and Pramod Chandila departed early making the task impossible for Bengal. Kuldip Yadav’s third over proved crucial turning the match on its head as he removed Shreevats Gswami, Anustup Majumdar and Pramod Chandila in the same over reducing Bengal from 119 from 3 to 122 for 5.

Mumbai V Punjab

Punjab beat Mumbai to be on Top of Group A
An all round show from Punjab saw them defeating Mumbai by 3 wickets in a Group A match of the Super League stage of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy today.
Manan Vohra gave Punjab the start they needed, hitting a fast paced 42 off 31 balls. Yuvraj Singh 40 off 34 balls and Gurkeerat Mann hit an explosive 43 off 18 balls to chase down 198 set by Mumbai.
An undefeated 79 from Shreyas Iyer helped Mumbai post a strong 198 against Punjab. Iyer hit 8 fours and 4 sixes as Mumbai dominated Punjab bowling. Earlier, Akhil Herwadkar scored 42 runs along with opener J Bista 24 to give Mumbai the ideal start.
In the other group A match Rajasthan defeated Jharkhand by 4 wickets to virtually eliminate them from the meet. Batting first Jharkhand made 157 for 5 wickets. Rajasthan chased down the total in 19.1 overs losing 6 wickets.
