An eight wicket haul by Parvej Alam helped United Club to restrict Netaji Subhas Institute at 342 in the second day of a CAB first division league match today here in Maidan. Coming out to bat United finished the day at 163 for 4. Alam took 8 for 86
On the other hand, an unbeaten 202 by Aditya Verma took Police Athletic club to 533 for 6 against Town playing their full quota. Town finished the day 191 for 2 in 57 overs.
“Getting runs early in the season is always good for a batsman. It will be like a boost for me. Now I will have to try and carry forward this form to the end of the season," said Verma to CAB Media.
"The wicket was quite good. The ball was coming to the bat easily. I batted patiently and waited for the bad deliveries to put them away. Feeling good to get runs for my side," he added.
However, the match between Bhowanipore and Rajasthan Club, saw an excellent come back by the later, as they batted with an aura on a wicket that was favouring the seamers. After being handed a follow-on Rajasthan finished their second innings at 334 for 6 in 87 overs. Chasing Bhowanipore’s 357 their first essay folded at 111 within 42 overs.
In the other matches played, while SK. Ajhar Uddin and Santosh Kr. Rai bagged six wickets for their respective sides, Md. Nasim Alam took five.
Among others hitting hundreds for their respective sides were Surojit Das (111), Suvajit Banerjee (110), Romit Sengupta (101), Ayush Das (109), Dipanjan Mukherjee (100), Dip Chatterjee (129), Abhishek Banerjee (130), Vaibhav Bhatter (156), Sk. Asif Hussain (103) and Anup Samaddar (148).
