Bhowanipore on top after day two

Followed by a good batting performance, bowlers put Bhowanipore on top after making Rajasthan Club follow-on in the second of a CAB first division league match here at the Jadavpur University, Salt Lake campus ground today. Chasing Bhowanipore’s 357, Rajasthan’s first innings folded at 111 within 42 over. They finished the day 13 for none in the second essay.
Md. Irfan Ansari and Partha Sarathi Bhattacharjee scored 119 and 79 runs respectively for Bhowanipore amassing the total on a difficult wicket.
“It was not an easy pitch to bat on. Batting early morning was difficult due to the presence of moisture in the wicket. As the day progressed it kind of eased out, but it was still difficult. Our bowlers bowled with discipline in the right areas putting the opposition under pressure, getting them out at a low total,” Irfan said to CAB media in the post match session.
On the other hand, East Bengal reached 402 for 6 in 80 overs against Young Bengal Sporting Association. While East Bengal displayed a strong unit of batters with B. Amit, K. Junid Saifi scoring 94 and 65 runs respectively, and Suvojit Banerjee remaining unbeaten at 63, Sk. Ajhar Uddin of Bengal Sporting held them back somehow, taking 5 for 111 runs.
Among the others hitting hundreds for their respective clubs were Amit Biswas (127), Satyabrata Mumu (112) and Adiya Verma unbeaten at 126.
In the bowling barrel, Alok Sharma, Umair Khan and Sachin Kr. Singh bagged six each for their respective clubs restricting opposition at a low total.
