Sujata (112 not out off 53) first centurion of
Bengal T20 League women’s competition

History was scripted in the Bengal T20 League women’s competition at the JU, 2nd Campus Ground Salt Lake, on Saturday as Sujata Dey slammed an unbeaten 112 off just 53 balls with 14 fours and five sixes as Adamas Howrah Warriors beat Sobisco Smashers Malda by 54 runs.
Sujata’s ton, which is the first in the League’s history in the women’s competition, helped Howrah Warriors post 178/3 in 20 overs.
In reply, Malda were bowled out for 124 in 19.1 overs.
Sreyoshi Aich (3-24), Disha Chandak (3-18), Chandrima Ghoshal (2-13) were the pick of the Howrah bowlers.
In the day’s first match, Servotech Siliguri Strikers beat Rashmi Nes Medinipur Wizards by 40 runs.
Batting first, Servotech Siliguri Strikers posted 168/4 in 20 overs, thanks to Sneha Gupta (69 off 50), Priyanka Bala (33 off 21).
In reply, Rahmi Nes Medinipur Wizards fell short scoring 128/6 in 20 overs. Ipshita Mondal (34 off 25) and Rupa Dutta (34 not out off 19) were the pick of the batters.
For Siliguri, Roshni Khatoon and Ananya Halder bagged two wickets each.
