''We play as a team"-says Vidarbha Coach

21th December 2017
Since 2014-15, Vidarbha has made a regular routine to qualify for Ranji Trophy knock-outs but unfortunately they could never qualify for the semi-final and when they crossed the quater-final hurdle, they made sure they will play their maiden Ranji Trophy Final.
Stunning the heavyweight Karnataka in an enthralling semi-final, Vidarbha players were not shy to show their emotions and ecstasy.
Chandrakant Pandit is on first stint as Vidarbha coach and they turned the desire into reality. He remarked,''
The boys have played tremendously well. They have shown great fighting spirit. Not only in this game but also in the other matches. That is more credible for us.We are playing as a team in the entire tournament. Winning such a match at this historical venue will always be remembered. We are looking forward to continue this to the final also.''
He revealed the pep-talk in the morning for such a crunching game of cricket-'' Today it was a 50-50 game for us and we made clear one thing-the one with desperation and patience will win it.We asked the boys to execute the plans properly.''
On asking, what fulled Vidarbha cricket since he has taken the charge, he said, ''I kept following same routine for what I am known. I should credit the boys the way they have adjusted with me and accepted my philosophy.I have tried to moral of the team and concentrated more on the process rather than the result.''
I'm very proud of the team. They have shown courage, temperament and they are keen to improve all the time.''
On achieving the success,Skipper Faizal echoed his coach and pointed out the success receipe. He said, ''We are extremely happy. We show courage throughout the tournament. The boys are staying together with discipline. We have genuinely applied the concept of playing as a team theory. We enjoy everyone's success in the team.''
He added, '' We needed two wickets and told the boys we could comeback at any time. We sticked to a plan and believed that we could win the match''
The man who guided Vidarbha to make an amazing comeback, Rajneesh Gurbani, seemed to be soaked in the joy and fervour of the win. He termed, ''This is the best spell of my career.'' He further added, ''It always excites me to perform under pressure.I was very nervous at the beginning and I got even more nervous when Karnataka was few runs shy of victory. Faizal bhai and others helped me to get out there of it.When they needed around 10-15 runs, I will bowl in proper line and length and allow batsmen to do something.Otherwise, if we go too much variation,it would fetch inside-edges for them. That worked for us.''
The coach praised Gurbani's outstanding performance and said, ''I should give a huge credit to him because he showed his character, temperament under such pressure. He backed his strength and stayed there.''
Vidarbha has travelled a long from motivating themselves to win Ranji Trophy to be on the verge of fulfilling their dream and is looking forward to achieve the glory of winning Ranji Trophy and seem to be no mood to lose the plot from here. The coach said, ''Our boys have played toughest cricket throughout the season and undergone toughest situation. We look forward something good to happen. We are concentrating much on the opponent instead we emphasise how we will play.''
