Late wickets rise hope for Bengal

A late surge by bowlers helped Bengal to pull things back to some extent after both Delhi openers helped Delhi to finish Day 2 at 271/3, 15runs short of Bengal in the Ranji Trophy semifinal clash at Pune.
Bengal bowlers' relentless effort drew first wicket only after 61.2 overs as Shreevats Goswami took a spectacular catch behind the stump off B.Amit to send Kunal Chandela back after the Delhi opener played a fine innings of 113 in 192 balls. The duo of Chandela and Gautam Gambhir added 232 runs for the first wicket. Ashoke Dinda dismissed Dhruv Shorey(12). Later, on the last ball of the day, Shami picked up priced Gambhir on 127 as Delhi finished Day 2 at 271/3 with Nitosh Rana remained unbeaten on 11.
Former Delhi skipper Gautam Gambhir picked up from where he left in the quarter-final by hitting an attacking tonne.
Earlier, resuming the day at 269/7, Shreevats Goswami(29) got trapped in the fifth over of the day at 283/8. Bengal innings packed up adding three more runs at 286. Navdeep Amarjeet Saini and Kulwant Khejoliya scalped a wicket each.
