Bowlers impress after Sudip double ton in Ranji tie
vs Services

23rd January 2026
Sudip Chatterjee's maiden double century followed by a dominant effort by the bowlers put Bengal in the driver's seat at stumps on Day 2 against Services in the Ranji Trophy Elite match at the Bengal Cricket Academy, Kalyani on Friday.
Resuming the day from overnight score of 340/4, Bengal batters piled on quick runs to post a massive 519 on the board in their first innings.
Enroute his 209 off 327 balls, Sudip hit 18 fours and a six. Shakir Habib Gandhi, who scored a fine unbeaten 91 off 151 balls, missed out on a well-deserved maiden ton.
In reply, Services were struggling at 126/8 in their first innings at stumps, trailing by 393 runs.
Suraj Sindhu Jaiswal (3-29), Akash Deep (3-31), Md Shami (2-27) were superb with the ball for Bengal.
Praising his players after play on the second day, head coach Laxmi Ratan Shukla said, "It is a wonderful achievement for Sudip to score a double hundred. Our bowlers did well, but there's still a lot of cricket left in the game. We have to start well tomorrow and finish the game on a winning note."
