Shahbaz Ahmed’s fighting unbeaten 108 went in vain as Bengal suffer 107-run loss against Hyderabad in the Vijay Hazare Trophy Elite match in Rajkot on Tuesday.
Put into bat, Hyderabad opener Aman Rao smashed a brilliant 200 not out off 154 to single-handedly power team to 352/5 in 50 overs.
Md Shami (3-70), Shahbaz (1-57), Rohit (1-61) were the pick of the Bengal bowlers.
In reply, Bengal were bowled out for 245 in 44.4 overs. Besides Shahbaz, Anustup Majumdar scored 59.
Hyderabad’s Md Siraj was impressive bagging 4 for 58.
Bengal, with 16 points from six games so far having won four, will face a must-win match in their final Elite Group B tie against UP on Thursday.
