No 1 position is the catch for India says Rahane

14th November 2017
Indian Vice-captain Ajinkya Rahaney today said that they need to continue winning every series to keep hold of the number one position in Test ranking.
With two days to go for the test between the two teams to uncover Vice-Captain of team India Ajinkya Rahane said: "The team is in good shape. Everyone knows how to adapt and every one is a professional. We have had a good practice yesterday and the same will follow today and tomorrow. We are hoping for a good practice before the test match. Since this is the first home match it is important since it provides a good momentum to the team. We need to keep winning to remain the top Test playing nation."
Rahane who has been putting up a good performance with the bat said: "This series is completely different from what we played in Sri Lanka. Here we know the conditions better but we are definitely not underestimating our counterpart. We had a good series in Sri Lanka. For us ever series matters and every match is important for us before going to South Africa. We are focusing on this series at the moment, our first game in Calcutta. We are focusing on our strengths rather than thinking about theirs or focusing on their combinations or strategies."
Asked about concentrating practise and on improvising and playing reverse sweeps he said, "it is important to improve and evolve with the game. I am trying to keep myself abreast with most of the strokes and keep reverse sweep as an option so that when an opportunity comes up I am not left unprepared for the same."
He further added, "South Africa series will be completely different as I feel. In order to be the number one test team every series is crucial for us and wining every match is important.
