We play instinctively: Wriddhi

13th November 2017
The series might be regarded as an easy affair for Indian team and as perfect practice for upcoming South Africa series, but the Men in Blue seem to be in no mood to take the series lightly or be complacent.
Test keeper Wriddhiman Saha said, '' We do not consider this series as a preparation for South Africa tour. Every Test, every series is important. We are not giving anything away in this series. We always aim to play well as a team as well as an individual. We will only think about South Africa once we finish the present series.''
The superman behind the stumps also said that to keep Shami, Ishant and Ashwin is more challengeing than other bowlers. He explained, ''When Shami or Ishant bowls, the ball both seams and swings. As per as Ashwin is concerned, the off-spinner has more variations in his arsenal, whereas Jaddu and Kuldeep bowls to a certain pattern.''
Wriddhiman also reflected the feel good environment of the dressing room as he can give his input freely- ''The team management always instructs us to say yes or no in case of DRS. Even if the decision does not go in our favour, the team backs my call.''
Wriddhi being the best viewer of the pitch, he advises the captain to go for certain field placing or any bowling change-'' If I feel any change is needed, I opine that to captain through Ajinkya or slip fielders. If that satisfies Virat, he goes for that.''
When was Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane and Shikar Dhawan practising reverse sweep at the nets to tackle Rangana Herath, Wriddhiman declined, ''We react to ball by instinct. It is not like that we make a particular plan for a particular bowler. We play as we feel, be it sweep or reverse-sweep."
