In the CAB First Division Championship semifinal matches on Thursday, the batters dominated the bowlers on Day 1.
In the first match, Riding on brilliant centuries each by Abhimanyu Easwaran (149) and Shakir Habib Gandhi (119), Bhowanipur Club posted 348/4 at stumps at the JU, 2nd Campus Ground Salt Lake. Abhishek Raman scored 41. For Kalighat Club, Durgesh Kr Dubey and Arun Chaprana bagged 2 wickets each.
In the second match, Satyaki Dutta (107) and Arindam Ghosh (78) batted superbly as East Bengal Club posted 310/6 at stumps at the Videocon Ground. Sandipan Das remained unbeaten on 45. For Mohun Bagan AC, Vikas Singh and Sourav Halder bagged 2 wickets each.
At both the grounds, a minute’s silence was observed by both the teams before the start of the match to pay tribute to the victims of the terror attack in Pahalgam.
At the Videocon Ground, former national selector and Bengal legend Sambaran Banerjee and CAB Umpires Committee Chairman Prosenjit Banerjee were present.
