Vidarbha seize control after poor toss
9th November 2017
Vidarbha made Bengal pay for choosing to field on the opening day of a Group D Ranji tie at Kalyani today.
The Bengal team won the toss and elected to field hoping to make the moat of the juice and movement that the Kalyani wicket yielded in the first two hours of the game.
But the decision boomeranged as the visitors finished the day on 285 for 1 further piling on the host's misery.
Skipper F Y Fazal played a sensational innings with the bat enroute his 142 run innings. He has been displaying regal form this year as he has scored a century each against Chhattisgarh and Services. Opening the innings, S R Ramaswamy complimented the skipper with a score of 114.
Faizal's innings was studded with 22 boundaries. Ramaswamy was no less as he swaggered his way to the ton with the help of fourteen boundaries.
Manoj Tiwary tried his best to stem the rot, but with little luck. When things weren't getting any better for Bengal, Asoke Dinda did a breakthrough dismissing Fazal for 142. At stumps S R Ramaswamy and Wasim Jaffer were batting on 117 and 18 respectively.
