The Bengal colts thrashed Baroda by 7 wickets to bag 6 points in Cooch Behar Trophy Under-19 encounter here at Jadavpur University cricket ground.
On the final day, Bengal needed 152 runs more to taste the victory. Sourav Paul and Dibya batted sensibly and went on to lunch at 140/1. Post-lunch, Bengal lost their second wicket on 148 as Paul got out on the personal score of 91, missing out a well-deserved century. The duo added 141 runs for the second wicket partnership. Dibya along with Sayan Biswas took the responsibility, adding 37 runs for the third wicket before Dibya's dismissals left Bengal to 185 for 3. Abhijeet(6 not out) joined Biswas(21 not out) in the middle and ensured that Bengal clinched the victory without any more hiccups.
Earlier, Bengal put up an all-round performance to take a moderate first innings lead of 57, before bundling out Baroda for 247 in the second innings. Chasing 191, Bengal signed off the third day at 39/1. Akash Pandey took eight wickets in the match.
