Before leaving for Kalyani for the Group D Ranji match against Vidarbha, Bengal players underwent a training session at the Jadavpur University cricket ground today.
After putting up a good performance against Himachal Pradesh, the Bengal team is keen to nurture their good form. Both the batters and bowlers honed their skills with serious intent to have a step closer to the knock-out stage, except Ashoke Dinda who was rested. Mohammed Shami also bent his back in the nets and is also going with the team to motivate the players.
Later on, asked about the practice, the skipper Manoj Tiwary said, ''The team is looking good. We're all geared up for the match. We'll try to fetch the maximum points, but at first we want to ensure three points.'' He also lauded Shami's decision to be in Kalyani-"It will be good for our bowling unit. His experience will come handy.''
While, coach Sairaj Bahutule, praised his team for all the efforts in the last match. He said, ''Vidarbha is a balanced side. They are having a momentum with them. But our boys are ready to take the challenge. Whenever we face a strong team, our boys raise their game and make sure we play good cricket.''
The Bengal team made one change as Ishan Porel replaced injured Mukesh Kumar. ''Ishan is a talened young bowler with good height and pace. He played really well in U-23s.'- said the skipper. However, Manoj said that the playing XI will remain more or less same except few changes and they will decide the team once they practise in Kalyani.
