CAB Secretary XI beat CAB President XI
by 16 runs in a thrilling match

In a match to celebrate the 97th Foundation Day, CAB Secretary XI, led by Naresh Ojha, defeated CAB President XI, led by Snehasish Ganguly by a margin of 16 runs at the Eden Gardens on Wednesday.
Batting first, CAB Secretary XI scored 119/1 in 15 overs. In reply, CAB President XI fell short, scoring 103/3 in 15 overs.
Mr Sourav Ganguly, who was also present, graced the occasion, meeting and interacting with all the members and making it an evening to remember.
Put into bat in a 15-over-a-side match, CAB Secretary XI got off to a fine start scoring 30/1 in 4 overs.
Saurasish Lahiri got the first breakthrough dismissing Ajay Verma.
In the fifth over, CAB President Mr Ganguly came into the attack. His bowling troubled the batters as some close appeals was turned down by the umpire.
Satyen Bhattacharjee (21 off 15) and Ambarish Mitra (21 off 12) batted positively as Secretary XI reached 57/1 in 8 overs.
In the final few overs, Alokendu Lahiri (20 off 13) played a quick-fire knock as Secretary XI posted a challenging total.
Chasing the target, Indu Bhusan Roy and Avishek Dalmiya looked to give President XI a positive start. But Mr Roy’s stay at the crease was cut short by Jayanta Ghosh Dastidar.
Mr Dalmiya remained scored 17 off 17 balls with 3 boundaries.
Next up, the skipper of CAB President XI Mr Ganguly arrived at the crease amidst a huge applause.
In his time at the crease, the left-handed batsman rolled back the years, displaying some outstanding skills with the bat in both the off and the leg side.
In his unbeaten 15-ball knock, Ganguly scored 18 runs as President XI reached 53/3 in 8 overs.
From there on, a disciplined bowling by Secretary XI bowlers put a check on President XI’s scoring rate.
In the end, despite Saurasish’s blazing 13-ball 21, President XI fell short of the target. Ajay Verma bagged the other wicket for Secretary XI.
