Dominant Bengal storm into quarterfinals
of Vijay Merchant Trophy

A dominant all-round performance powered Bengal Under-16 into the quarterfinals of the Vijay Merchant Trophy.
In the pre-quarterfinals in Anand, Gujarat on Monday, Bengal bagged first innings lead after their match against Rajasthan ended in a draw.
Bengal will next face Mumbai in the quarterfinals on Friday.
Atmaja Mondal (147), skipper Sachin Yadav (133, 2-59), Aritra Chakraborty (3-87, 2-14), Sayan Paul (3-64), Akash Tarafdar (2-18) were the star performers for Bengal.
Earlier, after bowling out Rajasthan for 291 in their first innings, Bengal posted a mammoth 553 to bag the all-important first innings lead.
In their second innings, Rajasthan were 120/7 when stumps were called and the match was drawn with Bengal qualifying for the last-eight stage.
