Bengal storm into pre-quarterfinals
of Vijay Merchant Trophy

Bengal Under-16 team stormed into the pre-quarterfinals of the Vijay Merchant Trophy after a dominant all-round performance in the group-stage encounters.
Bengal finished in second spot in Elite Group E with 19 points from five games, having won one and drawn four.
In Surat on Monday, Bengal bagged first innings lead after their match against Pondicherry ended in a draw.
Dipak Ghosh (74 not out off 108), Rajdip Khan (60), Akash Tarafdar (4-27) were the star performers for Bengal.
After posting a competitive 281 in their first innings, Bengal bundled out Pondicherry for just 149 to bag the all-important first innings lead.
Bengal, in their second innings, were 134/3 when stumps were called on the third and final day.
