to 282/3 in Vijay Merchant Trophy

Rajesh Mondal (132 not out) and Atmaja Mondal (94) batted superbly to help Bengal post 282/3 in their first innings at stumps on Day 1 against Maharashtra in the Vijay Merchant Trophy match in Surat on Tuesday.
In his 213-ball knock, Rajesh hit 20 boundaries while Atmaja struck 15 fours in his 196-ball innings.
Opting to bat, Bengal were reduced to 32/2.
From there on, against the run of play, Rajesh and Atmaja came together to add 220 runs for the third wicket to take Bengal to a commanding position at the end of opening day.
