Bengal have to stay happy with 3 points

9th October 2017
A dogged defence from Services and a dead-as-dodo surface forced Bengal take home a draw in their first match in the Ranji Trophy Group D tie at Palam today.
Bengal took home 3 points and Services 1 point. But the visitors will be frustrated not to have bowled out the army boys twice during the four day affair.
Bengal scored 552 for 9 in the first innings and 161 for 5 in the second while Services scored 359 all out in the first innings and 212 for 7 in the second innings of the match.
Services batted at a snail's pace and played out a dull draw evident from AA Bimal's 9 runs off 99 balls.
Earlier Bengal batted with fury and purpose reaching 161 for 5 with Abhishek Kumar Raman, Abhimanyu Easwaran and Sudip Chatterjee scoring 40, 39 and 19. Manoj and Shami remained unbeaten on 22 and 8.
Bengal began the bowling in whirlwind manner taking wickets in bursts.
Bowlers, Mohammed Shami, Aamir Gani and Ashoke Dinda claimed a wicket each while Kanishk Seth and Anustup Majumdar, topped the sheet bagging two wickets each.
