Amir's rich haul only bright spot
8th October 2017
Despite Amir Gani's 5 wicket haul Bengal failed to enforce a follow-on on a dogged Services at Palam Delhi who piled up 359 runs in reply to Bengal's first innings score of 552.
However coming out to bat the second time Bengal scored at seven runs per over to reach 77 for no loss with openers Abishek Raman and Abhimanyu Easwaran batting on 40 and 31 respectively.
Earlier, the day did not pan out as planned by Bengal as Services showed pluck and diligence with N.K. Singh, Ravi Chauhan and Rahul Singh Gahlaut scoring 121, 53 and 43 respectively frustrating the otherwise potent bowling attack of Bengal.
Beginning the day at 103 for 1, Services crawled along in face of hostile bowling. But skipper's constant bowling changes yielded little result as Gani was the only one who kept the hosts tenterhooks.
While Gani bagged 5, Anustup took 2 and Shami, Kanishk and Manoj took one each.
Tomorrow Bengal would try to amass as much in the first hour before trying to get the Services men out the second time. Today Bengal finished with a lead of 270 runs.
