Shami, Sayan power Bengal to
quarterfinals of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy

Bengal sealed a place in the quarterfinals of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy after a superb three-run victory over Chandigarh in the pre-quarterfinal match in Bengaluru on Monday.
Mohammad Shami (32 n.o, 17b, 3×4s, 2×6s; 1-25) played a brilliant quickfire knock and later on bagged a wicket. Sayan Ghosh (4-30), Karan Lal (33 off 25), Kanishk Seth (2-35), Pradipta Pramanik (30 off 24) were the other top performers for Bengal.
Batting first, Bengal scored 159/9 in 20 overs, thanks to a late blitz by Shami. In reply, Chandigarh fell short of the target, scoring 156/9 in 20 overs.
Bengal next face Baroda in the last-eight clash on Wednesday.
