Shahbaz slams unbeaten 100 as Bengal
script stunning win in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy

Shahbaz Ahmed smashed a brilliant unbeaten 100 off just 49 balls as Bengal registered a stunning four-wicket victory over defending champions Punjab to begin their Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy campaign on a high in Rajkot on Saturday.
The left-hander struck seven sixes and six boundaries while skipper Sudip Kumar Gharami also impressed with a fine 43 off 31 balls along with Writtick Chatterjee (18 off 13).
Karan Lal (3-23), Writtick (2-26) were the pick of the bowlers for Bengal while Mohammed Shami, Kanishk Seth, Shahbaz and Pradipta Pramanik bagged a wicket each.
Batting first, Punjab were bowled out for 179 in 19.4 overs. In reply, Bengal recovered from 10/4 inside 4 overs, to chase down the target comfortably, scoring 181/6 in 19 overs.
