Confident Bengal aim for a strong start to Ranji season

A confident Bengal team will aim to begin their Ranji Trophy 2024-25 season on a high with a win against Uttar Pradesh in the opening match at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow starting on Friday.
The Laxmi Ratan Shukla-coached side, having a blend of both the youth and experience, are in Elite Group C along with UP, Bihar, Haryana, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh and Punjab.
"Our preparations have been good. We, as a team, are confident of beginning the tournament positively. It is a sporting wicket, and I hope we will have a good game tomorrow," head coach Shukla said.
The consistent Anustup Majumdar, who has been among the top run-scorer in the last few seasons, will lead a strong Bengal team in the prestigious tournament.
An in-form Abhimanyu Easwaran, who smashed a brilliant 191 for Rest of India in the Irani Cup recently, will be a big boost for the team at the top of the order.
The arrival of senior players Wriddhiman Saha and Sudip Chatterjee is a plus, considering their invaluable experience and skill.
Young and talented batters Sudip Kumar Gharami and Abishek Porel will also aim to make an impact in the tournament.
All-rounders Shahbaz Ahmed and Writtick Chatterjee will look to deliver both with bat and ball.
Against UP, the pace bowling department will be led by the experienced Mukesh Kumar along with Suraj Sindhu Jaiswal and Md Kaif.
