18th June 2024
The inaugural edition of the Bengal Pro T20 League is grabbing attention from all corners.
The cash-rich Indian Premier League franchises Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings have sent in their scouts at the Eden Gardens in search of talents that they could utilize during the next editions of the T20 competition.
While five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians have sent two of their scouts - former India bowler RP Singh and batsman Saurabh Tiwary to spot talents from the Bengal Pro T20 League, other IPL franchise Punjab Kings have sent in Vikram Hastir to spot the next generation of cricketers from Bengal for the IPL.
The pools of talents from Bengal cricket are making impact with both bat and ball in the ongoing Bengal Pro T20 League.
The latest player to grab the attention was Sk Asif Hossain who put on a brilliant batting display, smashing an unbeaten 99 off just 57 balls for Adamas Howrah Warriors on Monday.
Sobisco Smashers Malda’s Writtick Chatterjee also dominated with the bat with a number of big scores while Malda skipper Mukesh Kumar and Servotech Siliguri Strikers’ bowler Suraj Sindhu Jaiswal are among the top wicket-takers in the tournament.
Earlier, a total of 176 players were drafted from a pool of over 450 cricketers in the inaugural Bengal Pro T20 League draft.
While the men’s matches are being played at the Eden Gardens, the women’s games are being simultaneously played at the Jadavpur University Salt Lake Campus Ground.
