CAB Women's Club Cricket League takes centre stage

It’s the beginning of a new era for women’s cricket in Bengal as the inaugural CAB Women's Club Cricket League One-Day tournament, hosted by the Cricket Association of Bengal, is set to take centre stage at the Town Club ground with Rajasthan Club taking on Aryan Club in the first match on Wednesday.
The opening day promises to be an enthralling one with four matches lined-up.
Besides Rajasthan Club taking on Aryan, Mohun Bagan Club will face Mohammedan Sporting Club at the YMCA Ground, Bhawanipore Club will meet Wari Athletic Club at Rangers Ground and Kalighat Club will face Barisha Sporting Club at Bangabasi Ground.
The tournament, which has been added to CAB's cricket calendar from the current year itself, will witness women’s cricket in Bengal scale new heights, bring forward a pool of talents and above all see new stars born in the next couple of weeks.
The meet, which will be played in a league-cum-knockout format, will have a star marquee, Bengal senior, Bengal Under-23, Under-19, and Under-15 player in each team to provide proper balance to each side.
Town Club, Aryan Club, Mohun Bagan, Mohammedan Sporting Club and Rajasthan Club are clubbed in Group A while East Bengal, Wari Athletic Club, Kalighat Club, Barisha Sporting Club and Bhawanipore Club are in Group B.
All 10 club’s coaches and captains sounded confident of their team’s chances, adding that this tournament will help find more talent for Bengal in days to come.
Mohun Bagan Club: The team will be led by Sukanya Parida and coached by Gayatri Mal. Confident of her team’s chances, coach said,“Our preparations have been good. I am confident my team will do well. Despite the heat, it is important for us to be focused and give our all on the field.” Captain, Sukanya said, "This is really an exciting opportunity for us all. We will give our best and look to win it."
East Bengal Club: East Bengal Club will be led by Mamata Kisku and coached by Ananya Mitra. Ahead of the tournament, coach Ananya was confident of her team’s chances. “It is a great initiative taken by CAB for women’s cricket. We are confident as a team with preparations being done very well. We hope to begin our campaign with win against Kalighat and continue the momentum in the next matches.” Captain Mamata said, "I am happy with the team. I hope we will give our best in the tournament."
Mohammedan Sporting Club: The team will be led by Priyanka Bala and coached by Jayanta Ghosh Dastidar. “I am happy to be able to coach this side. We have done our preparations very well and I hope the girls will deliver on the field. The first match will be crucial against Mohun Bagan and I hope to begin with a win,” said the coach. Captain Priyanka said, "I hope to give it all and lead the team to victory in the tournament."
Bhawanipore Club: The team will be led by Priyanka Sarkar and coached by Neha Maji. A confident coach said, “We have a balanced side. We have done our preparations well. I am confident we will do well as a team and win the tournament.” While skipper Priyanka said, "To be able to lead a side in this tournament is special. We as a team will give our best and look to win it."
Town Club: The team will be led by Mita Paul and coached by Shiv Sagar Singh. Ahead of the tournament, coach said, “Keeping in mind the challenging weather and the heat, we need to keep ourselves fit and work as a team to win it. As a coach I am confident and hope the girls will give their all on the field and begin the campaign with a win.” Captain Mita said, “This is indeed a tournament which I was waiting for to be a part. This tournament will help his give our best."
Rajasthan Club: The team will be led by Jhumia Khatun and coached by Dipali Shaw. “We have used the mornings and afternoons to do our practice sessions. I am confident as a coach that my girls will do well and start off with a win. The heat may be a challenge but we need to be focused on our job,” said the coach. While Captain Jhumia said, "I am confident that Rajasthan Club will do well in the tournament."
Kalighat Club: The team will be led by Piyali Ghosh and coached by Paramita Roy. “As a coach I have done the best preparations for my team. Now it is up to the girls to deliver on the field. I am confident they will do well and win it for us,” Paramita said. While skipper Piyali said, “It is a moment of joy for us to play in this tournament. We will give our best."
Barisha Sporting Club: The team will be led by Hrishita Basu and coached by Charanjeet Singh Matharu. Ahead of the tournament, the coach said, “We are confident as a team to do well and win the tournament. Despite the heat, we need to keep our focus on the game and give our best. We need to start off with a win and take the momentum ahead.” While skipper Hrishita said, "We as a team will look to give our all to attain glory."
Aryan Club: The team will be led by Kashish Agarwal and coached by Probal Dutta. “The main challenge will be playing in this challenging weather and excessive heat. As a team we are confident of doing well. I hope all the girls stay fit to deliver on the field,” said the coach. Captain Kashish said, "As a captain, I am confident of leading the side to glory. I hope we will give our best on the field."
Wari Athletic Club: The team will be led by Ankita Chakraborty and coached by Arpita Ghosh. Coach Arpita said she is aiming to start off with a win. “We have our bases covered in all departments. We as a team are confident of starting off with a win against Bhawanipore. Now we hope to give our best on the field.” Captain Ankita said, "I am excited to be a part of this wonderful tournament. This will help us showcase our talent."
