Dalmiya memorabilia unveiled on his birthday
30th May 2017
The Cricket Association of Bengal ceremonially unveiled the Blazer, Tie and IPL Accreditation card of Jagmohan Dalmiya as part of the association memorabilia marking the 77th birthday of the former BCCI president at the Eden Gardens today.
The former BCCI president and ICC chief breathed his last two years back, but his birthday was celebrated by his state association with the same warmth, love and fervour.
To mark the occasion a small ceremony was organized at the B C Roy Clubhouse that was attended by his wife Mrs Chandralekha Dalmiya, daughter Vaishali Dalmiya, son Avishek Dalmiya and daughter-in-law Koeli Dalmiya besides the association office bearers, members, clubs, cricket coaching centres and school sports bodies.
Former CAB Treasurer Biswarup Dey addressing the attendees, said: “Mr Dalmiya is with us in spirit. And our work and philosophy of life is guided by his teachings.”
A tribute lamp was lit by the Dalmiya family along with CAB Jt. Secretary Subir Ganguly and the U-19 team that won the Cooch Behar Trophy for Bengal after almost two decades. A candle designed 77 was also lit by his wife.
Thereafter the family went to the CAB lobby where the memorabilia was unveiled by Mrs Dalmiya in presence of Trinamool Congress MP Subrata Bakshi.
“It feels nice to see that Mr Dalmiya is remembered with such love and fondness even now at the state association. He was an honest hard-working person who never compromised with his self-respect. I hope everyone will imbibe this philosophy and take the game forward,” said Avishek Dalmiya, who is the incumbent Jt. Secretary of the CAB.
