Bengal top group despite loss

Bengal topped the table with 20 points despite losing their last Group league match against Gujarat in a Vijay Hazare trophy match today in Chennai.
Batting first, Bengal folded at 168 in 49.1 over. Among the batsmen Abhimanyu Eswaran (37), Aamir Gani (37) and Ashoke Dinda (33) got some runs for the team.
J. Bumrah topped the bowling for Gujarat taking 3 for 27, followed by A. Panchal and R. Bhaat’s 2 wickets each.
Thereafter, coming out to field, Bengal looked quite ordinary in bowling, as Gujarat chased down their total in 28 over with 7 wickets in hands. Skipper Parthiv Patel remained not out at 88 off 82 balls.
With the win, Gujarat finished number two in the league table with 16 points, while Bengal remained in the top with 20.
Now, Bengal will play Maharashtra in the quater finals on March 14th.
