Sandeep (173) and Suvankar (149*) guide
Town Club to 383/3

Sandeep Tomar and Suvankar Bal smashed brilliant centuries each to power Town Club to 383/3 against Kalighat Club at stumps on Day 1 of the CAB First Division League Group A match at SP School Ground in Kolkata on Wednesday.
Put into bat, Town Club got off to a slow start and were reduced to 31/3 after a fine bowling by Kalighat.
But Sandeep (173 retired hurt) and Suvankar (149 not out) held the innings firmly and gathered a massive 332-run fourth wicket partnership to take team to a commanding position at the end of the day’s play.
In the day’s second match at the Bengal Cricket Academy in Kalyani, Bhowanipore Club bowled out Barisha Sporting Club for 242, thanks to a fine bowling by Balkesh Yadav (5-64).
Sayan Kumar Biswas top-scored for Barisha with 60 runs.
In reply, Bhowanipore reached 22 for no loss at stumps.
In the day’s third and high-voltage match at the JU 2nd Campus Ground in Salt Lake, Mohun Bagan managed to score 269/5 at stumps against East Bengal.
Prinann Dutta (99) batted superbly but fell short of his century by just a run. Arindam Ghosh (61) too chipped with a handy knock.
In the day’s fourth match at the Aditya Academy in Barasat, Police Athletic Club were bowled out for 201 against Paikpara Sporting Club. In reply, Paikpara were reduced to 48/4 at stumps.
Put into bat, Police Athletic batsmen failed to deliver as Ravi Singh top-scored with 61 runs. For Paikpara, Poonesh Mehta was the star bowler claiming four crucial wickets.
In the day’s fifth match at Deshbandhu Park Ground in Kolkata, Tapan Memorial Club bundled out Calcutta Customs Club for just 167. Abhishek Gupta (45) was the top scorer for Calcutta Customs.
For Tapan Memorial, Ankush Tyagi (4-41), Ronit Ghosh (3-35) and Ramesh Prasad (3-46) were the pick of the bowlers. In reply, Tapan Memorial reached 65/3 at stumps.
