The curator course kickstarted at the Eden Gardens in order to develop and maintain the infrastructure of the ground during the peak cricket season for the betterment of the game.
BCCI's chief curator Ashish Bhowmik is conducting theory and practical sessions and is hopeful to give more practical exposure.

He said "We started with our first phase which consisted theory sessions across five days. In the second phase we are revising the theory alongwith practical experience at the grounds. There were 21 curators in the first phase as now we have a total of 18 curators in our second phase.

He further added "We are teaching them about pitch preparation and maintenance ,kind of grass to be used and the types of fertilizers used for pitch preparation. We are teaching them various special modified steps and techniques where they would require special skills so as to work and maintain the maidan grounds for a longer duration.
He also said "We believe on practical field work. Due to the heavy rains we couldn't get much exposure but still we did practical at the YMCA ground and in the upcoming sessions we will teach them the practical skills at the ground itself.
