Bengal lose off the last ball

Despite putting up a brave fight Bengal's chances to qualify for the next round became more difficult as they lost their game against Mumbai off the last ball today at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai today.
With Mumbai needing four off the final ball Subham Ranjane became the hero for Mumbai today smashing a boundary off Sayan Ghosh to beat Bengal by 3 wickets.
Bengal coach Arun Lal said to CAB Media: "Our chances have become difficult. We need to win all matches now and Haryana has to lose one for us to qualify. We should've won today's match. Bowlers bowled well. What went wrong is we couldn't score runs in the last few overs."
Earlier put to bat first Bengal got off to a good start as openers Sreevats Goswami (43) and Vivek Singh (56) stiched a 67-run partnership.
After apart from Shahbaz Ahamad no other Bengal batter could contribute much as the youngster stayed unbeaten on 26 off 15 balls to help Bengal post a fighting 153/4 in their quota of overs.
Ranjane starred with the ball too bagging 3 wickets for 17 runs for Mumbai.
While chasing Mumbai too got a good start thanks to their openers Jai Bishta (48) and Aditya Tare (37) till Ayan removed the latter one.
Bengal bowlers started to take wickets in regular intervals after that and turned the match around as Shahbaz and Arnab Nandi bagged 2 wickets apiece.
Needing 11 off the last over to win Mumbai skipper Suryakumar Yadav (22) went back on third ball while Manoj Tiwary run out Shardul Thakur with a quick throw.
Ranjane stayed unbeaten on 30 off 17 balls to seal the game for Mumbai by smashing a boundary off the last ball.
